Berlin marathon fallout. Geoffrey Mutai won the Berlin Marathon yesterday and clinched the World Marathon Majors title and the $500,000 prize that goes with it. But Mutai’s training partner, Dennis Kimetto, was only one second back at the finish and appeared content to let Mutai win. Obviously, this raises serious questions about the integrity of the competition.

College news
The new college cross country regional rankings are out, with a few new top-ranked teams. Running Times has an excellent recap of the weekend’s action, and Mitch Kastoff at Flotrack teaches the three lessons learned this weekend.
Up north, Montreal Endurance ranks the top college teams in Canada and my Windsor Lancers are the #2 men’s team and #10 women’s team.
Duke’s master plan for athletics includes removing the track from Wallace Wade Stadium and building a new track-specific stadium. This is probably an improvement for track, as Wade Stadium’s sightlines were poor and the new facility sounds like it would rival Virginia’s new digs as the best in the ACC.
