There are many mornings that getting up and doing the same 2-3 hour therapy routine can be challenging, mentally, and physically.  I know that's my "job"right now, preparing myself to get back on the court and ready to play again.

So, it was an ordinary Tuesday, and I got on the stairmaster and a couple begins talking to me that I've seen a few times in therapy, and proceeding to discuss that they knew I was a basketball player, and went over how they knew who I was.  I can see in their eyes, that they have a lot going on in their lives, so I listened very carefully to what they had to say.

He has a hard time getting his wife to work-out and get up amidst the issues they are dealing with, and he said, “my wife has used your motivation and dedication from how you workout at therapy, to inspire her to do the same.”  I talked to them for about 40 minutes, and we all shed a few tears, and just discussed the daily struggles that people go through, and how to overcome them.  I told them, “there are days I don’t want to get up and rehab, but I am grateful now that I can even get up on my own, and pushing myself is something that I know I have to do.”

This conversation touched me, in a big way, because you just never know the difference you can make in someone’s life, but simply just living yours.  Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference, and talking to that couple today, inspired me to keep pushing and going, just as much as I inspired them!
