You gotta love it when a big game lives up to its hype, and such was the case today with #5 Notre Dame's upset of #1 UConn, 73-72. The Irish, handing the Huskies their first loss, seem to have their number.

Skylar Diggins comments.

The game was good for the Big East, they say.

Notre Dame showed its tough side, and UConn didn't.

The rivalry between these two teams has become one of the best in the country, but it may be ending due to conference realignment. Some think it should remain.

UConn's defeat means there is only one undefeated team left: #4 Duke. What will happen in next week's rankings?

It was a big game day elsewhere, too:

DePaul upset #11 Louisville, 86-80.

#14 Purdue survived #25 Nebraska in overtime, 69-66.

#17 Oklahoma staved off Texas, 78-70.

#21 Kansas squeaked by West Virginia, 60-59.

Cal State Northridge rallied for the 56-55 win over Cal State Fullerton.

Saint Mary's prevailed in overtime over LMU, 84-77.

Creighton tied a school record for three-point shots in their 70-63 victory over Evansville. It gave Coach Jim Flanery his 200th career win.

Iowa State slid by Texas Tech, 58-54.

UMBC outlasted Maine, 54-50.

Green Bay notched their fifth straight, 61-42 over St. Bonaventure.

An offensive explosion powered Gonzaga past Santa Clara, 79-50.

San Diego downed Portland, 69-63.

Seattle U topped San Jose State, 72-60.

Other college news:

Tennessee's Cierra Burdick is out until at least February with a broken hand.

Pro news:

Expectations are high for new Sun Coach Anne Donovan.

Lauren Jackson may be out for the season in Australia.
