Former news editor of “Fightergirls” MarQ Piocos has been covering Women’s MMA for over three years, having picked up coverage of wrestling, boxing, and grappling. For those who missed out on “UFC Primetime: Rousey vs Carmouche” episode 1 on FUEL TV last night (or don’t get FUEL) you are in luck. The UFC has already posted episode on their website.


Miesha Tate will be in attendance at UFC 157 to watch Carmouche vs. Rousey live.


Multiple news sources are confirming the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, MO will be the venue for InvictaFC 5. Invicta president Shannon Knapp stated that they have finalized the card with 14 fights. Here is an updated list:

  • #1 STRAW Jessica Penne (c) vs. #3 STRAW Michelle Waterson – Amtomweight title
  • #4 FLY Barb Honchak vs. #6 FLY Vanessa Porto – vacant Flyweight title
  • #7 FLY Zoila Gurgel vs. Jennifer Maia
  • Bec Hyatt vs. Jasminka Cive

Sarah Kaufman, Alex Chambers, Rose Namajunas and Veronica Rothenhausler are all expected to be on the card.




Made for War MMA in Denver announced two female atomweight bouts for their April 5 card in Denver. Darla Harris will take on Ash Aguirre, while Diana Rael will take on a yet to be named opponent.


Fights announced this week include Brenna Larkin vs. Cynthia Calvillo at Tuff-n-uff MMA March 1 in Vegas and Jessica Zomcik versus Jena Baldwin NAAFS March 30th - location to be announced.


storm damage tourneyStorm MMA Australia and New Zealand’s Princesses of Pain will be co-promoting an one night MMA featherweight eight women tournament August 31 in Camberra, Australia.  Jessy Rose and Belinda Segwick are rumored to be two of the participants.


MMA Rising is reporting Mika “Future Princess” Nagano and Emi Tomimatsu will fight for a title shot against Jewels Lightweight Queen Champion Ayaka Hamasaki at  Jewels: “23rd Ring” on March 30th in Tokyo, Japan.


Most of the participants in the upcoming CFA featherweight tournament are on twitter, including Peggy Morgan (@peggymorganmma); Kelsey DeSantis (@KelsB);  Ashlee Evans Smith (@ashleeMMA1); @RevelinaBerto; Allanna Jones (@handsofstones_1), and Taylor Startford (@TayStratford).

Also on twitter ammy bantamweight Maureen Riordon (@babyfacemma).


Last week we showed you a Russian girl who was showing off her MMA training skills. This week, an American girl at 4 years old is starting to show some promise. You can watch the video here.

Alexis Davis is rumored to be on the Invicta card now. Both her and Miesha Tate were asking their fans about who they feel they should face next.  Interesting to say the least….



Jordan Gaza has four possible fights in the next three months. Besides the already announced March 23 fight in Corpus Christi, TX, the “Ninja Princess” may have a fight March 2, plus an April and May fight. More info in the coming weeks.

Gaza will be on the Wombat Sports podcast Feb. 24.


Australia’s Jessy Rose will also be busy in 2013. She is expecting to announce a few bouts in her native country next week, and hinted she maybe fighting overseas (USA looking like a great possibility).

Friday night, Showdown Fights 10 – Salt Lake City, UT Julianna Pena vs DeAnna Bennett – this will stream for $15 on GFL.tv.

Saturday, at the Beatdown: ThunderDome card. Denver, CO, Lacey Schuckman takes on Darla Harris.


In Santa Fe, Argentina, Daniela Romina Bermudez will take on Romina Elizabeth Alcantra for the interim WBA female super flyweight title. Also on the card, Alejandra Maria de Lujan Rios take on Yessika Flavia Munoz.

Down the road in Cordoba, Argentina, Natalia Aguirre vs. Yohanna Belen Alfonso.

Wilmington, Delaware will get some action as  Melissa St Vil faces Natasha Spence.
