Tonight WPS, via Our Game Magazine, announced a slew of magicTalk SC/Washington Freedom signings. Basically we now officially know the players we already kind of knew were going to be playing for the team.

Don’t look now but this squad’s not half bad. Here’s a breakdown of the roster by position (a players’ multiple positions are noted). This assumes the team has signed its five draftees, which is a big assumption but nevertheless.

GK: McLeod, Fraine, Solo*

D: Dalmy, Rampone, Marshall (F), Sauerbrunn, Moros

M: Boxx, Tarpley (F), White, Klingenberg (D), DaCosta, Rasmussen

F: Wambach, Masar, Press, Davis

*Solo will reportedly be plying her trade in whatever venue(s) the team decides to ply its trade in but nothing is official just yet.

I haven’t thought to check around the league to see how common this is but mTSC/WF seems to have a former player from every single WPS team that has either returned or passed on.

Los Angeles Sol: Boxx

Saint Louis Athletica, Tarpley, Boxx, Solo*

FC Gold Pride: Boxx

Chicago Red Stars: Tarpley, Masar, Dalmy

Atlanta Beat: Rasmussen, Solo*

Boston Breakers: Tarpley

Sky Blue FC: Rampone, White

The lone omission here is the Philadelphia Independence but Meghan Klingenberg is from Pittsburgh so we can make it work.

This also means that a combination of Shannon Boxx and/or Lindsay Tarpley has appeared in every one of the 10 WPS teams that have ever existed save for three and that includes the expansion Western New York Flash.

Lastly, here’s a YouTube video of Dan Borislow showing off the ways he spent his fortune before using it on the players listed above.

The fact that he deems his kitchen counter an appopriate place to leave a massive trophy is completely unsurprising.
