Moscow: Schiavone and Govortsova into Kremlin Cup final
Francesca Schiavone and Olga Govortsova will play each other tomorrow for the title at the Kremlin cup.
Schiavone defeated Alona Bondarenko 6-4, 6-0 while Govortsova beat Alisa Kleybanova 6-2, 6-1.
Schiavone broke Bondarenko decisively in the 10th game of the first set and dominated the second set to reach her third final this season.
After an exchange of breaks, unheralded Govortsova broke Kleybanova two more times in the first set. Govortsova was 4-1 up in the second when Kleybanova called for a doctor to have her right shoulder and back massaged.
“I enjoy it. But I run like crazy boom-boom-boom,” Schiavone said. “I’m okay. I’m very happy to be here.”
Govortsova and Schiavone have split their two career clashes, with Govortosova winning their first meeting, 7-5, 6-2, in Brisbane in January.
