Washington, Washington State lose on Sunday

Huskies2.jpgWashington won the rebounding battle on Sunday, but poor shooting from its top two players led to a 71-62 road loss at Long Beach State (2-2).

Sophomore PG Jazmine Davis, the team's leading scorer (23 points), was 1-for-6 from the field for six points and had five turnovers. Senior G Kristi Kingma played 31 minutes like Davis, but Kingma finished with 10 points.

The Huskies (2-1) outrebounded the 49ers 45-40 in the game. It was a first for the season. UW was outworked 119-70 in its opening two games but won both.

Sophomore F Aminah Williams led the change in effort on the boards. She finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds against LBSU, only her team trailed 40-26 at the break.

Junior G Mercedes Wetmore had leg cramps in a win against Seattle U (0-3) on Wednesday. She returned to play 40 minutes Sunday, contributing nine points, six assists, and five boards.
