GAME ON! SPORTS CAMP 4 GIRLS CREATING UNIQUE JUNIOR SPORTS BLOGGER GROUP FOR GIRLS
Calling Girls Grades K – 8th Looking for the Chance to Write for Respected Blog Game On! Sports Girl Talk
Game On! Sports Camp 4 Girls is very familiar with breaking new ground. Four years ago, it opened the first private multi-sport summer day camp devoted to young girls possibly in the country. Now, Game On! is establishing a junior sports blogger group that offers an amazing opportunity for girls to take on the role of sports reporter/columnist.
The game plan for this team of bloggers is as follows: Each Game On! reporter will cover a sports story and write it up for posting on respected blog “Game On! Sports Girl Talk” (www.gameonsportscamp.wordpress.com) once per month. The post can cover news regarding her own or another girl’s sports team, a personal athletic experience or one she has observed, perspective on an issue, an interview, or other types of general stories involving girls sports and fitness.
The Game On! Junior sports writer will also meet with Managing Editors Barb Lazarus, owner Game On! Sports Camp 4 Girls and Sara Hokin, Director of Operations for Game On! approximately bi-monthly to discuss the fundamentals of writing a good news story, conducting an interview, and writing op-eds, among other journalistic and writing skills. The group will also discuss their experiences in creating and covering their posts and upcoming assignments and goals over a dinner or dessert in a relaxed, fun environment.
“Sure, Game On! is known for its multi-sport summer camps and school year programs that bring quality sports opportunities on the fields and courts to young girls ,” said Lazarus. “But there is so much to be said for learning about and coming to appreciate girls and women’s sports through writing. Who knows, members of this junior girls sports blogger group may be inspired to become our next generation of sportscasters and sports reporters.”
Last year, the company launched “Game On! Sports Girl Talk” consistent with its hope of becoming a trusted resource for parents on a broad range of information relating to sports and fitness for girls ranging in age from 3 to 18. Now however, while still maintaining its educational and informational content for parents, the blog will feature young athletic girls who may cherish the opportunity to try their hand at sports writing and reporting.
