ROSEMONT, Illinois – Dec. 20, 2012 – Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, has announced the re-signing of shortstop Tammy Williams for the 2013 season.

Williams appeared in all but one game throughout the 2012 season, finishing ninth overall in the league with 24 runs scored and seventh with 17 walks. She recorded 31 hits and a .250 batting average with an on-base percentage of .345. She also collected 15 RBIs.

“Every solid roster is built up the middle first and Tammy was a major priority to get re-signed,” said Moore.  “The team is fortunate to have four solid players, including Tammy, locked up for the 2013 season.  She is a solid shortstop and has been extremely productive in different spots in the batting order.

“She’ll be expected to continue her solid play as we work towards the 2013 NPF Championship.”

In her three seasons in Orange and Black, Williams is a career .289 hitter with 11 home runs and 43 runs batted in.

“I’m looking forward to being back in a Bandits uniform for the 2013 season,” stated Williams.  “After the way last season ended, we are looking forward to getting back out on the field and basically finishing what we set out to do in 2012.

“The roster we’ll have this season will be strong from top to bottom.  It’ll be nice to be back on the field in Rosemont.  We have such a loyal fan base, and it’s a great honor to be able to play in front of them.”

A 10th overall draft pick in 2009 out of Northwestern University, Williams made a name for herself earning both Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards during the 2009 season.

Williams spent time with Team USA and Team Denso in the Japanese league during the 2010 season, but has played solely for the Bandits during the past two seasons.
