Was just trying to add the 2009 Sprint U.S. Freestyle Championships to our calendar (they're airing on Versus at 4pm EST Saturday) and realized there was no room on Saturday!  That's a good problem to have if you're a fan of women's sports.  Here's what's going on the rest of this week:

Knockout Breast CancerOn Friday, Knockout Breast Cancer - Round 2 kicks off at 7pm with cocktails at the Oakhill Country Club in Rochester, NY, followed by boxers taking the ring at 7:45pm.  Megan Leigh MacKenzie, a Girls Hit the Ring committee member says on the site, "I am already in Round 2, a one year survivor of breast cancer, so please put the gloves on with me and fight back." Last year, "Round 1" of the event raised $35,000 for the Wilmot Cancer Center for Research, $1,000 for the Aquinas Institute.  20 iPods were also purchased for the chemotherapy rooms.

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour is still going strong, with the Williams sisters both making it to the quarterfinals.  You can watch all of the action live HERE.

Also going on this week is the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship taking place in Rancho Mirage, CA.  All eyes are on 19-year-old Michelle Wie, who has "stopped worrying about stuff I can't handle" and Paula Creamer, who has been dealing with a strange illness all year that leaves her fatigued and plagued with chills and nausea.

Tidal 9 Pipeline Pro

The Tidal 9 Women's Pipeline Pro (clever name, huh?) started yesterday (March 31) and goes through April 14 on the North Shore of Oahu, where the waves are a head above the rest.

The $50,000 three-discipline (Long Board ASP, Short Board ASP, Body Board IBA) event is also a Girl Scouts of Hawaii benefit with the goal of saving Camp Paumalu.

You can watch the Pipeline Pro live HERE.

Aspen/Snowmass and Gretchen Bleiler present the CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational April 3-5 in Snowmass, CO.  The event features an all-female snowboard superpipe contest. If you're in the area, practice will be open to the public on Friday, finals take place on Saturday and a photo shoot with the athletes will be on Sunday.

USAV Beach Collegiate ChallengeOn Saturday, USA Volleyball is hosting its first-ever beach collegiate event, the USAV Beach Collegiate Challenge, in Long Beach, CA.  The event is open to NCAA and NAIA teams and will be the first step for USAV to promote the sport at the collegiate level.

From the USOC website:

The NCAA’s Committee on Women’s Athletics recommended in the summer of 2008 that sand volleyball be added to the emerging sports list for women. Representatives from NCAA Division I and II will vote on that proposal this year.

"Participation in sand volleyball events is growing geometrically again this spring," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "The NCAA is making sand volleyball an emerging sport at just the right time - it is economical to add and very popular on college campuses."

Competition will start at 9:30 a.m. The finals are scheduled to begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. Admission is free!

Oh we're not done yet.  Did you think I forgot about the Final Four and the three WPS games this weekend?

Saturday and Sunday, we get to watch Oklahoma, Stanford, Louisville and UConn fight to make it to the Finals.  I must admit that I never watched much basketball until this year.  But since I filled out a Women Talk Sports bracket, I've been following the games and now I understand exactly what the addiction is all about!

Brandi Chastain and Kristine LillyFor the new Women's Professional Soccer league, we have the Chicago Red Stars taking on St. Louis Athletica, the LA Sol traveling to the East Coast to face Sky Blue FC, and FC Gold Pride visiting Boston to play the Breakers.

The FC Gold Pride-Breakers game will be televised live on Sunday at 6pm EST on the Fox Soccer Channel.  I'm excited to watch Brandi Chastain and Kristine Lilly, two big-name vets, lead their teams in their first WPS game.

If you live in the St. Louis area, the New York/New Jersey area or the Boston area, get some tickets and get to a game!  You won't be disappointed.

Phew!  That's all I got.  It's going to be a great weekend for women's sports fans. If I missed anything, please comment below!
