In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

The St. John's Red Storm just handed the UConn women their first home loss in 99 games, on Senior Night in Storrs no less. Connecticut's last defeat at home came in the 2007 Big East Tournament Finals against Rutgers at the XL Center. The Red Storm was propelled to the win with a trio of double-digit scorers in De'Shena Stevens, Nadirah McKinith and Shenneika Smith. Smith hit a three-pointer with eight seconds on the clock to give St. John's the one point victory after Bria Hartley's attempt at the buzzer didn't fall.
Statistically, UConn outshot St. John's 43.1% to 38.5% from the floor, and outrebounded the Red Storm 33 to 27 in the game. The most glaring statistic, however, is the 18 turnovers committed by the home team compared to St. John's nine.
Aside from the home streak being broken, this marks their first loss to an unranked opponent since March 17, 1993 - a streak of 261 games.
