Attention, readers!  Westbound Boarder is launching its first ever monthly photo contest.  Snowboarding is one of the world’s best inventions, and it has the ability to create so many wonderful memories in the mind’s of participants worldwide.  Thus we are launching this contest to celebrate the great moments that our sport brings.  From today on out, we will feature a new photo contest each month.  And here’s how it works:

• Next time you’re at the mountain, snap a photo that pertains to the featured monthly topic
• Send it to us at westboundboarder@gmail.com
• At the end of the month we’ll select one random winner (who will win an awesome prize), as well as feature all submitted photos in n album on our site
• The contest will run for 6 months, with a new contest appearing each month, and at the end of July we’ll select one random winner out of anyone who has submitted photos to win a grand prize
• Totally simple!

This month’s contest centers on a topic that us snowboarders can all relate to (or at least secretly laugh at) - the Yard Sale.  Yes, you’ve all seen it.  That skier bombing ever so gracefully down the hill, making huge wide turns so that no snowboarder can actually pass, and then, out of nowhere, a bump appears in the middle of the slope and BOOM!  He falls, his stuff flies everywhere… Yard Sale!  You feel terrible for the guy for approximately 2.5 seconds, and then suddenly, you burst out in uncontrollable laughter.  But no one can blame you, because its so freaking hilarious.  That’ right.  We’re looking for the Best Yard Sale.

So this month, we’re asking you to turn your cameras to the “ready” position and keep an eye out for the biggest, best yard sale you see.  Send your photo to us at westboundboarder@gmail.com by Monday, February 28th at midnight, and you could be the lucky one to win this month’s awesome prize - a backpack from JanSport.  But not just any backpack.  Its the Antics backpack, from JanSport’s newest line (pictured to the right).  If everyone had an Antics pack to put their loose gear inside, Yard Sales wouldn’t exist, right?

So get out there, get snapping, and send us your best photos.  And hey, even if you need to rig a yard sale or two so that you can get that perfect photo… well, we won’t tell.
