This was my last week, plus a couple days into this week because they were very different from last week. Last week was basically my first building week of the outdoor season, after taking a small break after the indoor season.
Monday:
am: easy 5 miles (7:55 pace), followed by 4x 10sec hill sprints
pm: easy 2 miles (8:06 pace) in Vibram 5-fingers in light rain, followed by 3x 10sec hill sprints
note: I was supposed to do 6 hill sprints in the morning, but my attention span sort of flaked out

Tuesday:
        am: 4-mile loop (7:24 pace)
pm: 1 hour Warrior Fitness Bootcamp (my first time - total ass kicking)

Wednesday:

Today's twitter wrap is largely dedicated to World Champion Lolo Jones, @followlolo. If you are not following Lolo, I encourage you to do so. And, if you are an athlete that we follow, I also encourage you to study her tweets. She sets the bar very high in the realm of amusement. I encourage all of

you competitive athletes to try to achieve the level of amusement that Lolo is able to achieve. At the bottom of this post, I have included a few tweet from other athletes that contend with Lolo's tweets.

@followlolo:

OH MY! I Can'T believe I will either have to Cut off my hair or buy a WIG!!! I was called out by @anngaff and @USATrack_Field because I was traveling to the USA Indoor championships today and therefore should have tons of free time on my hands. So, I started working

on it, and then the sh*t hit the fan in THIS way and THAT way. That was a lot of sh*t for me to take at once! Fortunately, both situations were supposed to be so stressful for me that they cancelled each other out, and neither were particularly stressful. However, the twitter wrap was set aside.

My flight was miraculously not cancelled. Then I sat down in my hotel in Dallas to wrap up the wrap, come up with a theme, maybe make it more interesting. And then I realized that I have to get some Zzzzzzzs if I am going to race in less than 48 hours. So, below is essentially a random assortment of tweets that I found amusing, interesting, or just funny (@followlolo - hello, if you are not following her, you are not on twitter).

USA's first gold

A friend of mine (male) gathered a relatively large group of friends in his relatively small studio on Saturday night with one purpose in mind: to watch the Women's moguls be contested at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. This is exciting, right? This is what we want, a group of people sitting down in front of the TV together to watch women's sports.

They watched the qualifing run, where the object of their attention, Hannah Kearney, safely qualified for the final competition. The party then eagerly awaited the ultimate point of the competition - the run for gold - to see how the actual medal contest rounded out.

And they waited.

Well, it turns out that due to the recent fatal accident on the luge course, the luge is now much more interesting to the general public. So, the luge won.

And we missed live coverage of the USA's first gold medal.

So, if you missed reading about it on the back page of the sports section (which is where I first noticed it, in a Seattle newspaper ...

Pre-Olympic twitter wrap

The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are finally (almost) here! This is your opportunity to get to know some new athletes (if you weren't already an avid snow-sports follower). I know that over the last couple weeks, I have learned a lot about these great athletes just through our own WTS coverage, and exploring their tweets has been amusing! Here is a sampling:@lindseyvonn: Contrary to what I was told it turns out that I am allowed to continue to tweet and facebook during the Olympics!! Yay!! I have to follow very specific rules though:( Did you guys really think you were going to get rid of me that easily?! I'm back baby!@speedsk8chic (Allison Baver): Triple B, today you leave for Vancouver to show the world what I already know - you have more heart, grit, determination and discipline than anyone I know while also loving zebra stripes, bangles and mascara... Save Johanna's Brain is a website set up to raise money for Brooks athlete Johanna Olson, who is battling her second brain tumor. Johanna is just 30. She is a two-time qualifier for the Olympic Trials marathon, with personal bests of 1:15:41 for the half and 2:43:27 for the full. She finished 46th at the 2008 trials. Prior to these accomplishments, she was the 2000 NCAA D3 cross country national champion. This was just after her first brain tumor.Joanna's COBRA coverage from grad school ended on December 31st and her new benefits start in February. The expenses from the insurance-void month of January, and continued coverage going forward are a huge expense. Right now there is a benefit race scheduled for February 28th in Corvallis, OR titled The Tumor Shooter Trail Run. It includes two distances: The Tiny Tumor (3.5 miles) and The Big Tumor (7 miles). You have to give them ...

The running world's elites come together to create a live a silent auction to benefit the Jenny Crain Make it Happen Fund

Jenny Crain was, in the not to distant past, one of the top female runners in the country. Boasting personal bests of 32:30 for 10,000m, 1:15:05 for the half-marathon and 2:37:36 for the marathon, she was the top American finisher in the 2004 ING New York City Marathon, and finished 11th at the 2004 Olympic Trials. In August of 2007, she was struck by a car in a Milwaukee intersection near her home while training for her third Olympic Trials Marathon. An in-depth description of the accident was written up in a recent issue of Runner's World.

Her recovery has been slow, painful and expensive. The consequences of her accident were fractured vertebrae, shattered jaw, bruised her aorta, and massive brain damage. The one-time national class distance runner is now in a wheelchair and struggles with every day tasks like reading and holding a cup of tea. She is not paralized, but she has difficulty walking due to brain trauma.

Since day 1, and continuing over the years since the accident, th...

Christmas twitter wrap

Did anyone here get the idea in their heads that Christmas equals a day off from training? If you did, you'd be wrong. Professional athletes don't always get a day off just because the stock market is closed. Below are some of the most serious, funny, revealing and inspirational tweets i have read this year. Merry Christmas!@Alysia800: God is so good, he's so good to me! Today I was struggling to get out for my second workout when I did I struggled through the first set and... Asked him 4 the strength 2 make it thru I asked Him for help and He sent me James Rutherford, Timmy Gonzalez and Michael Norris!... These are Canyon Highschool track athletes that happen to be on a leisure run that took me thru my last set at perfect times! I Love u God!@lisabarber80: About to hit the gym real quick@allysonfelix: Headed to practice, time to put work in... Nice workout today.
