Triathletes without a swim background do not have the same flexibility in their shoulders, hips, torso and ankles as lifelong swimmers. This lack of flexibility is one of the biggest culprits in poor swim form. If the shoulders, hips and torso are stiff, rotation will be limited and the ability to make a good catch will be hindered. In this video, we explain some movements and stretches that will open up the body. If done on a regular basis, you will start to notice improvements in your swim form which will reduce the risk for injury and help you swim faster. Thanks again to Roman Mica of Everymantri and Brandon del Campo.

Winter has always been a determined athlete who wanted to find a way to give back. At the age of five, she discovered that she was a talented triathlete, and as she grew older, she wante...

Paralympian Ellen Keane on the line

The Paralympics are coming up in a few months time just after the Olympics in London. I've had a few of the Irish team on here already, and today's post is a radio interview I did with Dublin swimmer Ellen Keane.Wishing Ellen the best of luck at the British International Disability Swimming Championships over the weekend in Sheffield, England. I know bloggers are never supposed to steer people away from their site, but I haven't got the interview embedded so you have to click over here to the NearFm podcasts. Have a great weekend - remember all that sport justifies a chocolate egg no matter what your religion is!

They won't remember all that you did. But they will never forget how you made them feel." It's official, all three BAWSI Girls sites in San Jose are underway. After months and weeks of preparation and visioning, it feels amazing to truly be connected to the pulse and heartbeat of our work in such a concrete way. After taking the BAWSI Pledge and signing their name with their little pinkies in commitment, receiving their personalized BAWSI Girls jersey, and taking notes in their very own BAWSI playbook, we inducted another 175 girls from at-risk and underserved schools to the BAWSI Team and Family. Armed with their BAWSI Gear and love, it was beautiful to see the girls, in mind, body and spirit transformed a la Wonder Woman style, into stronger and more confident girls empowered to take charge of their own lives.
