Alicia Ashley Becomes Oldest Female Boxing Champ by Winning Vacated WBC Super Bantamweight Title
Alicia "Slick" Ashley started kickboxing in 1995. As an amateur she had a successful career taking home the New York City Golden Gloves Champion in 1996, 1997 and 1998. She followed those titles with theUSA Boxing National Amateur 125-lb gold medalin 1997 and 1998. She took home gold in the 1998 Women's National and Senior Junior Olympic Championships and competed internally to end her amateur career 16-2. She went pro in boxing in 1999. She has had a successful career that has resulted in her being a kickboxing champion and a three time boxing world champ. At age 43 (in 2011) Ashley became the oldest female boxing champion when she won the WBC Super Bantamweight Title.
