Beth Newell: Cycling

Newell is a professional cyclist. She started biking at age 22 after her car broke down. She needed a way to get to work.

She started competing as a cat 4 in 2007. By 2008, she moved up to a cat 1/2. In 2009, Newell won the Tri-Flow Menio Park Grand Prix and the Friday Night Club-Hellyer Track Races. In 2010, she took home goldat the Aple Pie Criterium, the Friday Night Club-Hellyer in the Scratch Race, Points Race and Omnium and the Kingsburg Criterium. Newell won over 20 races in 2011.

In 2012, she placed 6th at the USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals (individual) and third in the points race. She has hopes of competing in the Olympic Games.

 Off the bike, she is a project analysis in the healthcare field. She earned a masters in Health Care Administration from California State University- Hayward.
