Petrova is a tennis player from Moscow. She started playing tennis at a very young age. By 14 years old, she won her first ITF junior competition. At age 15, Petrova made it to the finals at the U.S. Junior Open. When she was 16, she played in the J&S Cup, her first WTA Tournament.
In 2004, she was ranked #3 in the world. She continued to find success throughout her career. She has won 11 singles titles and 22 doubles titles.
In 2004 and 2012, she was a member of the Russian Olympic Team. In 2012, she took home bronze in doubles.
