Kathleen Hersey: Swimming

 Hersey is a two-time Olympic swimmer.

• Four-time honorable mention All-American
• 11-time Big 12 Champion

• 2007, 2009 and 2010 U.S. National Champion, 200m butterfly
• Four-time gold medalist, 2007 Pan American Games
• Holds six individual school records (100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 back, 200 back)
• Co-owns four school relay records (400 F.R., 800 F.R., 200 M.R., 400 M.R.)
• National independent high school record holder (100 butterfly, 200 IM)H

Hersey was a high school record holder in the 100 butterfly and 200 independent medley. She holds University of Texas records in the 100 and 200 fly, 200 and 400 independent medley and 200 backstroke. She co-owns four school relay records too. 

In 2007, she had an outstanding Pan American Games performance. She took home gold medals in the 100- and 200-m butterfly, the 400-meter individual medley and the 4X100m medley relay. She took home U.S. national titles in the 200m butterfly in 2007, 2009 and 2010. 

In 2008, Hersey qualified for the 200m butterfly at the Olympic Trials. She went on to Beijing to qualify for the final round in the event. In 2010, she placed third in the 200m butterfly at the Pan Pacific Championships. 

She finished her collegiate career an 11-time Big 12 Champion, part of the first team All-Big 12 Academic and a seven-time All-American.  


In 2012, she qualified for the London Olympic Team in the 200m butterfly. At the Games, Hersey advanced to the final round where she finished fourth overall.
