 Melinda Cooper: Boxing

 Cooper is a professional boxer and former WIBA and IBA Flyweight Champion of the World.

Melinda "La Maravilla" Cooper started boxing in 1996. She had her first fight in 1998 at the Blue and Gold Tournament in Baldwin, California. There, she won the 85-lb division. In 2000 she won the 112-lb, 14-15 yr old, division of the Women's National Golden Gloves. Later in 2000, Cooper won three bouts at the 106-lb division of the US Everlast National Championships. In 2001 she won the 125-lb division of the Women's National Golden Gloves. In 2002, at the age of 17, Cooper went pro. She became the first female licensed to box professionally under the age of 18 in Nevada. She has been mentioned in several magazines, including Girls Life, Teen and World Boxing. She is the former WIBA and IBA Flyweight Champion of the World.
